  SA Monthly Says "Goodbye" to Managing Fitness Editor Sherri Braxton: S herri Braxton started with SA Monthly three years ago, after being featured on our cover. She is the "high-energy" trainer and owner of popular all-women fitness gym "Sherri Fitness." In this time she has provided the magazine with many articles that helped San Antonio stay in shape. Fall 2020 Special Features: The SA Monthly "Special Fall Issue" is Out! This fall, let "Bruno" the winner of our 2019 "Pet Costume Contest" take you on a tour of one of his favorite spots in SA!  After his big shoot, we went to "Starbucks" to get him a "Puppicino."Do you have a pet that wants to be featured in the magazine? Here is your chance! For our 2020 contest, we have the treats of "Kitchen to K9," a local dog treat bakery, that makes unusual treats like "conches" for doggies. The winner of the 2020 "Pet Costume Contest" will get featured in an editorial about this bakery and receive a winning treat! New to SA Monthly: Jackleen Rios has been featured in the magazine as a dancer and model. As of recently, she is the official curator of the "Dancer of the Month" editorials. July 2020: What's New in SA Monthly & Highlights

Every Month: A New "Theme"  In the July 2020 issue of SA Monthly we officially announce SA Monthly TV and a new "theme" for each new issue. In the July Issue we went with "Red, White, and Blue" because July is the month with celebrate Independence Day.  We scout out the best local talents. Last month we featured a chart-topping artist. This month...a Grammy winning production team and contributing editor to our music section, known as "Klubjumpers."  Earlier this year we introduced the "SA Monthly Book Club." This month, we feature author Johanna Sparrow. Her work can be found in Barnes & Noble, and everywhere books are sold. Boxing in San Antonio Featuring Jesse James Leija

Boxing is one of the most popular combat sports in the world...and it can become your favorite workout routine. Unlike a normal workout at the gym, it teaches self-defense moves while helping burn calories at the same time. On top of that, it provides a full-body workout that can take off 3-4 pounds a workout (depending on the intensity level) which is much more than a regular gym workout. Boxing is a good way to keep toned while also keeping your mind engaged with moves that build your reflexes (sparring and the boxing bag will help with this.) The self-defense aspect of boxing helps build confidence, such as taking on a sport like karate.
