SA MONTHLY PODCASTS: LOCAL CEO's

A-List S.A. introduces "SA Monthly Podcasts" with host Lorena Monroe. Lorena has already interviewed several  members of the community for SA Monthly's extended podcasts of profiles featured in the magazine.

With COVID-19 concerns looming in the community it is essential that we stayed quarantined, but it is not essential that we stay bored. What better time than now to listen to stories about people who make up the community of San Antonio?

For example, do you know Adelso Lemus? If you don't you might recognize his desserts! Available on the dessert menu of the famous-in-San Antonio Mexican Restaurant, "Las Palapas." Maybe, you have eaten his desserts on other popular eateries as well...but do you know the story behind this local business?

Adelso Lemus: Founder and CEO of Adelso's Creations

Adelso's is a love story. It all started out of one man's kitchen inspired by the love for his wife. Adelso wanted to make a little more money for his 25th marriage anniversary. He worked odd hours and had a schedule that made it hard to keep a second job. With limited resources and one creative idea, he decided to use a $20 bill to bake a Tres Leches cake his family and friends often enjoyed at his dinner table in order to raise money for his gift. He took his first dessert out of his home-kitchen-oven and into a local restaurant to have the owner, staff, and customers try out his creation. After that night, the restaurant owner decided to place more orders from Adelso. Adelso’s Creations Bakery started from humble beginnings, with love, a dream, one man’s ingenuity, perseverance, and dedication to his wife. Today, Adelso serves over 100 restaurants in the San Antonio area and his business is booming! The unique pallet of Texas and the creative thinking of Adelso, who reinvented the traditional Tres Leches to include lovely flavor combinations like cherry-vanilla and pineapple-passion, has transformed Adelso's from a small entrepreneurial venture to a high-volume bakery. Flavor infusions that are reminiscent of desserts made by pastry chefs at five-star-restaurants are available at Adelso’s Creations wholesale to the San Antonio and South Texas restaurant-market. It's no wonder the one-of-a-kind desserts have found their way into the City’s most popular Mexican eateries.
